David O. McKay Center for Intercultural Understanding

The David O. McKay Center for Intercultural Understanding at Brigham Young University Hawaii represents a “living laboratory” for intercultural understanding. Such an institutionally recognized and supported center focuses on improving intercultural understanding for our students while attending Brigham Young University Hawaii.
Upon returning to their homelands graduates more effectively communicate in a global environment and provide leadership in the international church in addition to the job-related skills and general education qualities they develop at the university. To accomplish these goals the center focuses on:
Exploring classroom methodologies that facilitate and develop intercultural understanding.
Facilitating faculty and student research on intercultural relations at BYUH.
Promote faculty and student application of research knowledge that will facilitate intercultural understanding on campus and in various contexts in the target area.
Creating networks for student internships, graduate studies and/or employment connected with fellows and their organizations in the target area.
Invite accomplished church leaders, scholars, officials, opinion leaders, diplomats, and from within or connected to the target area to participate in Fellows program.
