Human Anatomy – 3 (2+1) credit hour – Tue and Thu at 1:00-1:50pm
Introduction
Anatomy is the basis for your classes in Adapted Physical Education, Athletic
Training, and Kinesiology. A good understanding and knowledge of anatomy
will help you in these classes. By taking this class you will develop a basic
understanding of the human body; its muscular, skeletal, nervous, circulatory
systems.
Objectives
Each student should be able to accomplish the following major objectives in
this course:
Develop a basic knowledge in anatomy of the human body and recognize how different
body parts relate to each other.
Develop a basic understanding of the structural organization of the body.
Discover how muscles and bones came to be.
Learn the landmarks on the bones and which muscles attach to these landmarks.
Gain a better understanding of the muscles, which make the body move.
Understand how muscles move the lever bones.
Gain an understanding of neuromuscular and circulatory systems.

Methods
The following instructional methods will be used in order for students to better
comprehend human anatomy: lectures, discussions, lab experiences, quizzes,
and exams. You really have to spend 1-3 hours per day in order to memorize
all the parts of the body covered in this class.
Content
1. Anatomical terminology, terms of positions and movements.
2. Structure of cells and tissue
3. Skeletal system
4. Structure and classification of bones – landmarks
5. Skeletal muscles – names, location, structure
6. Joints – articulation, types, muscle movements
7. Ligaments – location, names
8. Nervous system – cell structure, function, innervation
9. Circulation – heart, arteries, and veins
Evaluation
The final grade will be computed from the following items:
Exams (7) 70%
Quizzes 30%
Exams
Exams and quizzes must be taken on the dates shown on the schedule unless any
prior changes made with your instructor. It is your responsibility to inform
your instructor about any possible (good) reason for a change.
Quizzes
Each quiz is maximum of 15 minutes in length, so be on time and get it done
within this time limit. A quiz – every day. Be prepared.
Attendance
It is essential for you to attend the class every time in order for you to
pass this course. In the case of illness or some emergency reason, it is
your responsibility to notify your instructor. The EXS Division has established
current criteria for absences and how they affect your grade. After 3 absences,
there is one full grade drop. 7 absences mean that a student fails the class.
Three (3) tardies equal one absence. Be on time.
Additional Lab Hours – CAC 218
During 8:00am – 5pm, see me
In the evenings – Mon- Thu at 6-8pm
Models, skeletons, and charts will be available to help you learn the muscles
and bones.
