World War II

World War II is a difficult chapter in our history but it is important that it not be ignored. It is eqally as important to personalize this chapter in history so that students will understand and be able to relate to the events that took place. WWII is especially important to the history of Hawaii because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This location creates an excellent stage for the topic of WWII and the events that led up to it.
Please be mindful of the age of your students when planning your lesson. While it is appropriate to teach K-3 grades about tolerance and respect for people of all different colors, shapes and sizes, the heavier issues should be left for grades 6 through high school. With this pathfinder you will be able to find resources on this subject for all ages. By teaching about WWII and our mistakes in the past, we can learn how to make our future better.
