Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year |
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University-Hawaii held its annual athletic awards
banquets recently to honor athletes from the current and past year. Women’s
tennis player Jing Jing Liu and men’s cross country runner Golden Harper
were honored as Seasider Athletes of the Year in the top awards given and outgoing
seniors were given special recognition.
Liu, from Changsha, China, was a First-Team All-American this past season for
the fourth consecutive season and received her second consecutive Seasider
Woman’s Athlete of the Year Award. Last May, as a senior, she helped
the BYU-Hawaii women’s tennis team win its ninth national championship
in the last 11 years.
Harper, from Orem, Utah, won the Pacific West Conference individual championship
and finished 13th in the NCAA II West Regional Championships to earn All-Region
honors during his senior year this past fall.
