Season | January 13, 2007 BYUH Wins at Chaminade
Honolulu, HI-Junior guard Paul Peterson hit back-to-back three-pointers to start the game and the Brigham Young University Hawaii men's basketball team kept the lead throughout the game as they defeated Chaminade today, 76-68, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 12-5 for the season and 4-1 in the PacWest, hit 58 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from long range in the first half as they took a 50-41 lead into the locker room. Neither team shot well in the second half and the Silverswords closed to within three points at 69-66 but the Seasiders hit seven of eight free throws down the stretch to seal the win. Eric Boyce, who was 3-3 from long range and 2-2 from the line in the opening half, finished with 17 points to lead the Seasiders to the win. Lucas Alves dropped in 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Peterson tallied 12 for BYU-Hawaii. Jermaine Odjegba, Wu Tai-hao, and Trenson Akana each put in eight points and Odjegba led the way on the boards with ten rebounds. BYU-Hawaii out-rebounded Chaminade 41-33, with a ten-rebound edge in the first half, to turn the tables from Thursday's game that saw the Silverswords win the battle of the boards by ten. Zack Whiting scored 29 points as the Silverswords dropped to 2-2 in the PacWest and 10-6 overall. Marko Kolaric had 12 points for Chaminade. BYU-Hawaii will face Hawaii Pacific Wednesday in Honolulu at 7:00 pm HST. |
