Season | January 17, 2007 Boyce Bombs Sea Warriors
Honolulu, HI-Senior guard Eric Boyce drained seven three-pointers in the second half as the Brigham Young University Hawaii men's basketball team blew open a close game after intermission and defeated Hawaii Pacific tonight, 74-63, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 13-5 for the season and 5-1 in the PacWest, led just 29-26 after a slow first half, but Boyce scored all of his 25 points and was 7-8 from behind the arc in the second half as the Seasiders opened up an 18-point lead and then held on for the win. Boyce led the Seasiders in scoring and his seven three's tied the third-best single-game mark in BYU-Hawaii history. For the game, Boyce shot 7-11 from long range, 8-12 overall from the field, and was a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line. Lucas Alves tossed in 18 points on 7-8 shooting and pulled down ten rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He also blocked five shots to tie for the seventh-best single-game mark in school history. Corey Nielson added nine points for the Seasiders and Junior Ale tallied seven off the bench. Rishi Kakad scored 27 points and was the only Sea Warrior in double figures as the Sea Warriors shot just 37 percent from the field and dropped to 1-5 in the PacWest and 7-10 overall. BYU-Hawaii will face Hawaii Pacific again on January 26th at King Middle School in Kaneohe at 7:00 pm HST. |
