Season | January 3, 2008 Men Win With Defense
Belmont, CA—The 9th-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team won their second consecutive Pacific West Conference road game tonight by defeating Notre Dame de Namur 55-41. The Seasiders ran out to a 30-14 halftime lead behind strong defensive play that limited the Argonauts to just 22.2 percent shooting from the field and then spent the second half holding on to the lead to improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the PacWest. Lucas Alves led the Seasiders with 14 points and ten rebounds despite being double and triple-teamed throughout the game. Paul Peterson tossed in 14 points for the Seasiders and Corey Nielson added eight points and five assists. Jermaine Odjegba tallied six points and grabbed seven rebounds to go with three steals. Jeremy Brown scored six points off the bench on 3-3 shooting and Nate Sims added five points and four rebounds in the win. Ryan Cooper scored 11 points and Chris Clock ten to lead the Argonauts, now 4-6 for the season and 0-2 in the PacWest. Notre Dame de Namur’s bench players went scoreless in the game as a group. The Seasiders will face Grand Canyon on Saturday at 7:30 pm MST in Phoenix, Arizona in their next game.
