Lucas Alves slams down two of his 24 points during tonight's win

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team ran past Hawaii Select tonight, 110-72, in the final game of the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Classic. The Seasiders opened up a 55-34 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second period for their second runaway win is as many nights in the exhibition tournament.

Sophomore Lucas Alves scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds in just 19 minutes of play to lead the Seasiders to the win. Senior Paul Peterson knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 21 points and three assists while Jermaine Odjegba tallied 12 points to go with his five rebounds, five blocks, and four steals. Micah Casey came off the bench to score 12 points and Edward Kim tossed in 11 points in just ten minutes of play. Nathan Sims reached double figures with ten points and tacked on five assists and four rebounds. Jeremy Brown led the Seasiders on the boards with eight rebounds to go with his five assists and five points. Corey Nielson didn’t score for BYU–Hawaii but dished out a game-high nine assists and grabbed six rebounds. Trenson Akana totaled nine points and handed out four assists and Nick Holladay contributed a pair of long-range shots for six points to go with three assists.

The Seasiders open the regular season on November 30th at a tournament hosted by Central Washington in Ellensburg. BYU–Hawaii will face Western Oregon to open the tournament at 5:00 pm PST.
