Peterson, Alves Honored

Paul Peterson has hit 19 three-pointers in his last three games

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Paul Peterson and Lucas Alves were both named to the Hoop ‘N Surf All-Tournament team today for their performances in two Seasider wins during the tournament. The Seasiders defeated Tampa 103-75 and Florida Southern 103-84 in their two tournament games.

Peterson, a senior co-captain from Abilene, Texas, hit 13 three-pointers in the two games and averaged 28.5 points and eight assists per game for the tournament. He also came up with seven steals and shot 63.3 percent from the field, 65 percent from behind the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line in the two games.

Alves, a sophomore from Brazil, averaged 31.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in the two contests while shooting 58.9 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the free throw line. He also blocked three shots in the games.

Between the two, they combined for 118 of BYU–Hawaii’s 206 points (57.3 percent) in the tournament. Alves led the tournament in rebounds and Peterson led in assists. They were the top two scorers in the tourney as well.
