| December 29, 2007 Alves Gets Second Honor
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Lucas Alves was named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week today for the second time this season for his performance in three Seasider games last week. Alves averaged 27.3 points and 14 rebounds per game and shot 54.9 percent from the field as the Seasiders went 1-2 for the week. Alves, a sophomore from Casa Branca, Brazil, scored 33 points and grabbed
11 rebounds in a double overtime loss to Alaska-Anchorage to start the week
and followed that up with 31 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Florida
Southern. He completed his week with 18 points and 14 rebounds in a narrow
loss to Seattle Pacific.
