Alves Named All-Region Again

Lucas Alves made another All-Region First Team

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Lucas Alves was honored today with a spot on the 2008 National Basketball Coaches Association All-Region Team for the West Region of NCAA II play. Alves also was named Daktronics All-Region and received All-Region All-Academic honors earlier this year.

Alves, a sophomore from Casa Branca, Brazil, was named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week four times during the season and led the PacWest in scoring with a 20.2 points per game average. He led BYU–Hawaii and was third in the conference in rebounds at 8.3 per game and shot .575 from the field, good for second in the conference. He also blocked 27 shots during the season. Alves and the Seasiders made it to the West Regional Finals this season.
