Alves Player of the Week Again

Lucas Alves is this week's Pacific West Conference Player of the Week

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Lucas Alves was named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week this week for the fourth time this season. Alves received the honor for his performance in two Seasider road wins over UH-Hilo last week in which he averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as BYU-Hawaii completed the regular season with an 18-7 overall record and a 13-5 mark in the PacWest.

Alves, a sophomore from Casa Branca, Brazil, scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Friday’s win and followed that with a 16-point, nine rebound performance in only 26 minutes of play in Saturday’s win. For the week Alves shot 56.7 percent from the field and also came up with four steals in the two games. For the season he is averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Seasiders are awaiting a possible bid to the NCAA II Tournament with pairings to be announced on Sunday.
