Seasiders Take Second in Hilo Invitational

Hilo, HI- Tommy Jordan and Chelsea Smith finished third and fourth, respectively to lead the Brigham Young University-Hawaii men's and women's cross country teams to second-place finishes in today's Hawaii-Hilo Invitational. Hawaii Pacific earned top honors in both races.

Jordan finished the 8K in 28:15, just 55 seconds behind winner Christian Madsen. Hawaii Pacific took six of the top seven spots again this week to finish with 18 points. Billy Cornelison and Steve Soelberg also cracked the top ten for the Seasiders. BYU-Hawaii finished with 55 points while UH-Hilo took third with 74 points and Chaminade finished last with 92 points.

Hawaii Pacific's women took the top three spots in their race and finished with 23 points. The Seasiders' Smith finished the 5K in 19:06. Sabrina St. laurent took 11th, Melissa Flake came in 13th, Namea Curtis placed 15th, and Anne Hopkins finished 19th to give the Seasiders 62 points.

Hawaii-Hilo's women finished third with 65 points, Hawaii came in fourth with 75 points, and Chaminade totaled 140 points.
