Big Wave Challenge Results
Ka'a'awa, HI- The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men's and women's cross
country teams ran to fifth and eighth-place finishes, respectively, today
in the University of Hawaii Big Wave Challenge. The meet included a total
of thirteen schools including UCLA, who won both the men's and women's
events.
The Seasider men managed to place two runners in the UCLA-dominated top
20. Tommy Jordan finished 14th in 17:37 and Steve Soelberg turned in his
best performance of the season, placing 19th in 17:59. The men's team
finished fifth out of eight teams.
BYU-Hawaii's women were led by Chelsea Smith's thirteenth-place finish.
Smith was the only Seasider woman to break the top 40. The women finished
eighth among thirteen teams.
The Seasiders' next meet will be the BYU-Hawaii Invitational on September
28 in Laie.
