Facts:
Three of the Akinaka clan have played college soccer at BYU Hawaii.
Elias the oldest of the three was the teams captain back in 1998 when
Sam was a freshman on the team. Currently Sam's younger brother Mike
is the team captain this year. Sam had the opportunity to play alongside
both of his brothers here at BYU Hawaii. Served a mission in Fukuoka,
Japan from 200-2002.
Went to aviation school to become a helicopter pilot after his
mission.
His happiest moment in life was getting married.
Most memorable soccer triumph: Playing for the Utah's Oympic Development
men's team that won the west
region for the first time in Utah's ODP Select history, and representing
the team at nationls for the final four in Tampa, Florida in 2005.
