Seasiders Knock off Cal Lutheran

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team improved to 4-1 for the season today by defeating California Lutheran, 9-0, on the BYU–Hawaii courts. The Seasiders swept the three doubles matches handily and then won all six singles matches in straight sets to claim the win.

Rong Ma breezed through his singles match at the top slot 6-0, 6-0 and then teamed with Junichi Shimoda for an 8-1 win at the third doubles position to lead the way for the Seasiders. Shimoda took a 6-0, 6-3 win at number six singles. Marvin So’onalole teamed with A.J. Bartlett for an 8-2 win at number one doubles after making short work of his singles match at the fifth spot, 6-0, 6-1. Bartlett won his singles match at the number two position by a 6-1, 6-3 score. Agnel Gladwin Peter got a 6-2, 7-5 win at number three singles and then teamed with Ben Stevenson for an 8-4 win at number two doubles after Stevenson took his match at number four singles by a 6-1, 6-1 count.

The Seasiders will face UH-Hilo tomorrow at 2:00 pm HST in Waipio at Central Oahu Regional Park.
