Ma Gets Regional Honor
Rong Ma is the NCAA II West Region Rookie of the Year

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis player Rong Ma was honored recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as the NCAA II West Region Rookie of the Year for his performance this tennis season. Ma helped lead the Seasiders to an 8-3 record this season and a national ranking of 29th.

Ma, a freshman from Guang Zhou, China, took over the top singles slot for the Seasiders this season and also played in the top doubles slot. He compiled a record of 8-1 in singles and 9-1 in doubles and was ranked as high as 27th in the nation in singles and 15th in doubles. His only loss in singles play was to the 4th-ranked player in the nation.
