Seasiders Lose in Regional

Agnel Peter (shown in earlier action) was leading his singles match today when play was halted

La Jolla, CA—The 28th-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team suffered just their third defeat of the season today, losing 5-0 to 18th-ranked UC San Diego, in the NCAA II West Regional. The Seasiders finished the season with an 8-3 mark while the Tritons improved to 11-11 and will move on to the national tournament in Houston, Texas.

The Seasiders put up a fight but fell behind 3-0 after the doubles matches. BYU–Hawaii never recovered and was leading in just one of the six singles matches, Agnel Peter at the number three slot, when play was halted when UC San Diego earned the fifth point. The Seasiders’ Manu Bajpai suffered an ankle injury during his match that hampered his play and hurt BYU–Hawaii’s chances for a comeback
