Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Melissa Lehano was named to the Pacific West Conference All-Conference Second Team today. Lehano was the only Seasider to be honored for the conference this season after BYU–Hawaii finished the season with a 9-34 overall mark and a 6-18 conference record. Waipio, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team ended the season today with a pair of non-conference losses to Chaminade at Central Oahu Regional Park. The Seasiders fell short in the first game 8-2 and dropped the nightcap 4-2 to the Silverswords. The Seasiders dropped the first game 11-3 and the second 11-2. Kaneohe, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team dropped a pair of Pacific West Conference games today to conference leader Hawaii Pacific but put a scare into the Sea Warriors in the first game. Hawaii Pacific had to rally for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-3 win in the opener. The Sea Warriors won the second game 8-0. St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team dropped a pair of Pacific West Conference games today to Dixie State on the road. The Seasiders lost the first game 8-2 and the second 13-5 to the Rebels. Belmont, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team split a Pacific West Conference doubleheader for the second day in a row on the road today, winning the first game against Notre Dame de Namur 6-5 in eight innings before dropping the second game 6-4. The Seasiders, who were designated the home team by the conference for today’s games, scored with one out in the bottom of the eighth to win the opener and left two runners on in the bottom of the seventh in the second game after rallying for three runs in the inning. The Seasiders overcame a two-run deficit to win the opener but couldn’t come back from an early six-run deficit in the second game. Seasiders Break Out the Bats in Two Win's Today Laie, HI—The Lady Seasider softball team broke out their bats today and managed to drive in 16 runs in two victories today winning the first game 7-2 over visiting Wisconsin-Stout, and the second game of the double-header 9-1 in a run shortened game. Seasiders Fall to Undefeated HPULaie, HI—BYU-Hawaii women’s softball took on un-defeated conference leader Hawaii Pacific University today in a double-header and fell to the Sea Warriors 12-2 in a run shortened first game, and 5-0 in the second game. The Sea Warriors managed just five more hits than the Seasiders 13 compared to 8, but those hits proved to be costly late in the game in driving in runs as HPU put up 7 runs in the final inning to widen the gap.Seasiders Come So Close Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team went down to the last out with a chance to win in both games of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader with Grand Canyon today before falling a run short in each game. The Seasiders couldn’t hold the lead in a 5-4 first-game loss and couldn’t tie the game in a 2-1 second-game defeat. Seasiders Lose a PairLaie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team got a strong pitching performance from junior Katresha Veazie today but it went for naught as the Seasiders lost both ends of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader today, falling to Grand Canyon 2-0 and 11-0. Veazie went the distance in the first game, allowing just four singles while striking out a season-high six, but fell victim to unearned runs in the fifth and seventh innings to take the loss. Seasiders SplitWaipio, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team scored a season-high 11 runs today as they defeated Chaminade 11-4 in the first game of a mixed, non-conference doubleheader today at Central Oahu Regional Park. The Seasiders slammed out ten hits, including a grand slam home run by Kim Artiaga and a two-run shot by Bettye Doering, to cruise to the win. The Seasiders lost to Hawaii Pacific 13-0 in the second game of the day. The Seasiders dropped the first game 3-0 and the second 10-0. Senior Leslie Fester collected three hits on the day for the Seasiders. Lehano Delivers in ThrillerLaie, HI—Junior Melissa Lehano drove a clean single through the right side of the infield with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team a thrilling 2-1 win over Chaminade today in the first game of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader. Lehano’s hit scored Margaret Gnadt, who had reached on an error to open the inning, and gave the Seasiders their second win of the season and second in conference play. Seasiders Get First WinLaie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team rode the strong pitching of junior Katresha Veazie to their first win of the season today as the Seasiders defeated Chaminade 5-3 in the second game of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader today after the Silverswords took a 5-3 decision in the first game. The Seasiders scored four runs in the third inning to overcome a 2-0 deficit and Veazie made the lead stand up for the victory. Seasiders Sweep Exhibition GamesLaie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team took both ends of an exhibition doubleheader today over the University of Regina (Canada) club team. The Seasiders won the first game 6-1 and claimed the second 8-1. BYU–Hawaii will be back to regular action on Friday against Chaminade in a doubleheader in Laie beginning at 1:00 pm HST. Alohikea-Betham Homers AgainCosta Mesa, CA—Kahealani Alohikea-Betham continued her early season power surge today, smashing a three-run home run in the top of the first inning of the second game, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team from falling twice to Vanguard, 4-0 and 6-3 in a non-conference doubleheader. Alohikea-Betham, a freshman from Ewa Beach who prepped at Kamehameha, hit her third home run of the season after consecutive walks to Melissa Lehano and Leslie Fester but Katresha Veazie’s two-out double later in the inning proved to be the final hit of the day for the Seasiders. Seasiders' Rally Falls ShortCarson, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women's softball team rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by a leadoff homerun by Kahealani Alohikea-Betham, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Seasiders dropped the first game of a doubleheader to Cal State-Dominguez Hills today, 7-4. The Toros won the second game 8-0 in five innings behind the one-hit pitching of Kaci Carroll.
