Seasiders Split

Laie, HI-Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific split a softball doubleheader today with the Seasiders taking the opener 4-2 and the Sea Warriors claiming the second game 10-1. The games were the first Pacific West Conference games of the season for the two teams.

BYU-Hawaii benefited from three HPU errors and a two-run double by Lyza Halas to take the first game behind strong pitching by Tracy Bonomi. Bonomi ran her record to 3-1 for the season by allowing only five hits and one earned run in going the distance.

The Sea Warriors banged out 13 hits in the second game, including a line-shot home run by Brandy Choy Foo, to end the second contest after just five innings on the eight-run rule. The Seasiders managed just four singles off Mallory Anderson, who did not walk anyone.

BYU-Hawaii moves to 4-8 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. HPU is 7-5 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest.
