February 16, 2008 Seasiders Fall to Sea Warriors
Waipio, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team fell to Hawaii Pacific today by a final of 5-0. The Seasiders banged out five hits against Sea Warrior pitcher Courtney Kessell but couldn’t break through for a run in the non-conference contest. Senior left fielder Leslie Fester collected two of the hits on the day for the Seasiders while Melissa Lehano, Kimberly Artiaga, and Athena Salinas each got one hit apiece for BYU–Hawaii. Katresha Veazie went the distance on the mound for the Seasiders, striking out four Sea Warriors along the way. A later game against Chaminade was suspended due to rain. No completion date has been named. Hawaii Pacific, one of the favorites in the PacWest this season, opens the season at 1-0 while the Seasiders drop to 0-9 for the year. The Seasiders will face Hawaii Pacific again on Monday in a non-conference doubleheader in Laie beginning at noon HST. |
