Seasiders Drop Pair

Athena Salinas (shown in earlier action) drove in a couple of runs for the Seasiders today

St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii softball team dropped a pair of Pacific West Conference games today to Dixie State on the road. The Seasiders lost the first game 8-2 and the second 13-5 to the Rebels.

The Seasiders only runs in the first game came on a fourth-inning home run by junior Katresha Veazie. Veazie’s blast was her second of the season. Melissa Lehano stroked two hits in the game for BYU–Hawaii.

BYU–Hawaii scored five times on five hits in the first inning of the second game but was unable to generate any more hits or runs the rest of the game. Kim Artiaga and Athena Salinas each banged out two-run singles in the inning and Lehano collected her third hit of the day to give her three of the Seasiders’ nine hits in the twinbill.

BYU–Hawaii now stands at 8-25 for the season and 5-11 in the PacWest while Dixie State improved to 19-13 overall and 10-5 in the conference.

The Seasiders will face Hawaii Pacific on April 4th in a conference doubleheader in Kaneohe, Hawaii beginning at 2:00 pm HST.
