The Brigham Young University-Hawaii women's volleyball team is primarily concerned with two polls, one governed by the NCAA II and the other by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The NCAA II poll that affects the Seasiders is the Pacific Region Poll and is released bi-weekly beginning midway through the season and continuing until the NCAA II tournament selections are made. The AVCA poll is a national poll and is released weekly beginning with the preseason and ending after the NCAA II championship match.

The NCAA II conducts regional polls throughout eight regions of the nation. These eight regional polls determine which teams receive bids to the NCAA II championship tournament at the end of each season and, consequently, are the most important of the polls. The Pacific region poll is determined by the vote a six-member committe selected by the NCAA.

The AVCA poll is determined by a panel of 35 AVCA-member coaches selected from the nationwide membership of the AVCA. It is not considered by the NCAA II when determining teams for the national tournament or for purposes of seeding those teams selected.
