| September 21, 2007 Seasiders Fall to Vulcans
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost to a aggressive UH-Hilo squad tonight, 3-0, in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams. The Seasiders, now 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the PacWest, fell behind early in the first game and played catch-up most of the night as the fell 30-23, 30-25, 30-23. Senior outside hitter Noelle Filimoeatu pounded 18 kills for the Seasiders to lead all players and also contributed nine digs. Freshman Tanza Buroker provided a spark for BYU–Hawaii as she put down seven kills, hit .429, made four blocks, and served two aces. Faylynn Merrick added nine kills for the Seasiders and Agnes Tuilevuka matched Filimoeatu with nine digs for the night. Josimara Pinheiro led four players in double figures in kills for the Vulcans with 17. Fabieane Seben had 13 for UH-Hilo while Hillary Hurley and Lauren Bayer each had 11. Laura Rodriguez made 19 digs and Pinheiro had 15. Seben made seven blocks and setter Desiree Agader put up 54 assists in the win. BYU–Hawaii will face Chaminade tomorrow night in Pacific West Conference action in Laie at 7:30 pm HST.
