Seasiders Ranked 19th

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team holds down the 19th spot in the Division II national preseason rankings released today. The Seasiders received 272 points in the poll after finishing last season with a 20-1 record and being ranked 15th in the final poll of the year.

The Seasiders lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last year after going undefeated during the season and finishing in first place in the Pacific West Conference. The team returns six players from last year, including three starters. Several talented newcomers join them on Coach Wilfred Navalta’s squad that should battle for an NCAA berth again this season in the newly expanded Pacific West Conference. BYU-Hawaii opens the season on August 24th with two games in California. The Seasiders will play Central Washington which received 17 points in the preseason poll and then face 17th-ranked Cal State-LA in the evening on the Eagle's floor.
