Seasiders Fall to Sea Warriors

Richelle Fenenbock hit six three-pointers in tonight's game against Hawaii Pacific

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost a hard-fought game tonight against Hawaii Pacific, 78-74, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 2-12 overall and 2-3 in the PacWest, fell behind by four at the half could never quite catch the Sea Warriors in the second half.

BYU–Hawaii cut the lead to two twice in the second period before falling behind by as many as 11 points. However, the Seasiders rallied and cut the lead to one point with 2:01 to play on a pair of free throws by Agnes Tuilevuka before the Sea Warriors’ Natalie Mitchell hit her only shot of the night, a three-pointer, and Hawaii Pacific put the game away by hitting nine of ten free throws down the stretch.

Richelle Fenenbock drilled six three-pointers and scored 22 points to lead the Seasider attack. Felisita Ika logged a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and Amanda Watts dropped in 14 points and dished out a team-high five assists for BYU–Hawaii. Tuilevuka finished with ten points while Madison Kite added six points and five rebounds.

Karras Blate had 20 points to lead Hawaii Pacific, now 2-13 overall and 2-4 in the PacWest. Ashley Jenkins just missed a triple-double for the Sea Warriors as she finished with 19 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds, and three steals while playing all 40 minutes. Angela Spence had 16 points and Jocelyn Norris ten for Hawaii Pacific.

The same two teams will meet again Saturday night in Laie at 5:30 pm HST in another conference game.
