Belmont, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team suffered their first Pacific West Conference loss of the season tonight, losing to Notre Dame de Namur 87-49 after defeating the Argonauts by two points last night. The Seasiders, now 1-9 for the season and 1-1 in the conference, started the game well and were tied at 11-11 but yielded a seven-point blitz over a span of 30 seconds and could never get untracked the rest of the night. BYU–Hawaii trailed 46-26 at halftime, cut the deficit to 16 points four minutes into the second period, but then fell further and further behind as the game progressed. Richelle Fenenbock scored 11 points to lead BYU–Hawaii and Agnes Tuilevuka reached double figures with ten points to go with six rebounds. Amanda Watts also grabbed six rebounds and tossed in eight points for the Seasiders. Niva Fanene came off the bench to score nine points and snatch four rebounds in just seven minutes of play in the loss. Corazon Riley scored 25 points and handed out six assists to go with four steals for the Argonauts, now 1-9 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest, while Tanaia Keyes got 13 points off the bench. Ashley Wilson added 11 points and Darice Murray ten in the win. The Seasiders will travel to Phoenix, Arizona next to take on Grand Canyon on Saturday at 5:30 pm MST. |
