Seaiders Play Tough

Amanda Watts (shown in earlier action) had seven rebounds and 12 points in tonight's loss

Phoenix, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team overcame the effects of spending a day in the San Francisco Airport to play a tough game against Grand Canyon tonight in Pacific West Conference action, but couldn’t overcome the Antelopes, falling 85-60 to fall to 1-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

The Seasiders were held up by bad weather in San Francisco all day long on Friday before finally arriving in Phoenix late at night, but shook off the effects of travel to come out strong against the defending conference champions. BYU–Hawaii led 15-9 seven minutes into the game, but the Antelopes utilized a trapping defense to score the next nine points and never trailed again in improving to 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Hoku Holdcraft hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points to lead the Seasiders while Richelle Fenenbock, who also hit three three-pointers, and Amanda Watts each tallied 12 points. Watts pulled down seven rebounds and Niva Fanene corralled six off the bench. Agnes Tuilevuka added none points and Zori Drew six for the Seasiders.
