Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball dropped an 84-66 decision today to Oklahoma Panhandle as part of the Hoop ‘N Surf Tournament. The Seasiders, now 0-6 for the season, put up their largest point total of the season but it wasn’t enough as they couldn’t overcome a 20-point first half deficit. BYU–Hawaii scored the first six points of the game and still led 11-8 with 11 minutes to play in the opening half. However, the Lady Aggies took control in the latter portion of the period and the Seasiders trailed 45-25 at the intermission. BYU–Hawaii outscored Oklahoma Panhandle 41-39 in the second half but could never get the lead under 12 in the period. Freshman Richelle Fenenbock hit four three-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the Seasiders. Amanda Watts tallied 15 points and Agnes Tuilevuka and Hoku Holdcraft each dropped in 12 for BYU–Hawaii. Holdcraft scored all 12 of her points from beyond the arc as she hit 4-6 from long range. Madison Kite led the Seasiders on the boards with five rebounds to go with her seven points. Sarah Polson led Oklahoma Panhandle, now 5-4 for the year, with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Alisha Sladek had 13 points and Ro Wilson 12 for the Lady Aggies. BYU–Hawaii will face Seattle on Wednesday at 5:00 pm in Laie. |
