Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball defeated Chaminade tonight, 78-72, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders overcame a seven-point first-half deficit to take a 38-31 halftime lead and, despite a tough battle from the Silverswords, never trailed in the second half as they defeated Chaminade for the third time this season. Lei Lolohea scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds to pace the Seasiders to the win. Agnes Tuilevuka added 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals while Madison Kite snared a team-high eight rebounds and dropped in eight points in the win. Amanda Watts came off the bench to hand out six assists for the Seasiders. Katherine Carlisle scored 20 points to lead the Silverswords, now 0-23 for the season and 0-16 in the PacWest. Samantha Saito had 16 points and Simrin (Cummins) Harrington had 14. The Seasiders, now 5-20 overall and 5-11 in the conference, will face UH-Hilo on both February 29th and March 1st in Hilo at 5:30 pm HST. |
