October 6, 2007 Seasiders Get Second Place
Kaneohe, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii's women's cross country team took second place today at the Hawaii Pacific Invitational in Kaneohe. The Seasiders finished just five points back of meet winner UH-Hilo in a tight battle for the top spot. Amanda Whitford ran a 19:20 5K to lead the Seasiders with an second-place overall finish. Diana Voorhees claimed fifth place with a time of 20:26 and Hilarie Glenn also finished in the top ten for the Seasiders with a time of 20:39 for seventh place. Michelle Fong took 18th in 21:42 followed by Veronica Mendoza in 19th at 22:04. Sylvia Basquet rounded out the Seasider contingent with a 24th-place finish in 23:18. Chantelle Wilder of the University of Hawaii was the top individual finisher with a time of 18:51. BYU–Hawaii will run again on October 27th at the Pacific West Conference Championships in Belmont, California. Team Scores: 1. UH-Hilo 46 |
