Seaside, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s soccer team succumbed to the rigors of the road today and lost 3-2 to Cal State-Monterey Bay in non-conference action. The Seasiders, aptly named for playing the match in Seaside, lost despite out-shooting the Otters 21-12 to fall to 5-3-1 for the season. It was the first loss in the last six matches for BYU–Hawaii. Cal State-Monterey Bay struck quickly in the opening period, getting goals in the second and fourth minutes to grab a 2-0 lead. The Seasiders responded with a Hailey McKee goal off a pass from Alexa Page in the sixth minute and then tied the game just before halftime in a goal by Kahanu Ah Puck with an assist from BreeAnna Bowser in the 45th minute. However, the Otters got the only goal of the second half in the 64th minute and the Seasiders were unable to respond. BYU–Hawaii will play San Francisco State tomorrow in San Francisco,
California at 3:00 pm to end their five-game road trip. |
