BYUH Players Honored

Elwen Li is one of six Seasiders honored by the PacWest

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team took home the bulk of the honors from the Pacific West Conference today as the league released the All-Conference teams for the year. The Seasiders placed all of their top six singles players on the two teams, with four BYU–Hawaii players being named to the First Team, and landed all three of their regular doubles teams on the squads with two of the duos garnering First Team accolades. Additionally, Seasider Head Coach David Porter was named Pacific West Conference Coach of the Year.

Named to the All-PacWest Singles First Team were Seasiders Elwen Li, Maggie Deng, Ramona Husaru, and Becky Lu. All four were also awarded First Team Doubles recognition. Tabbed for the All-Conference Second Team, in both singles and doubles, from BYU–Hawaii were Jenny Chin and Ayako Ikeda.

The Seasiders finished the season with a 28-1 record and won the PacWest Championship. Husaru, a senior, is the only upperclassman for the Seasiders. Deng is a sophomore and Li, Lu, Chin, and Ikeda are all freshmen.
